May 9th, Create a Journal: Express your creativity while developing the skills you need to make journals for yourself or as gifts. We’ll use stamps, paints and all types of recycled items to make it uniquely yours! If you have a special fondness for Betty Crocker Brownies or Cheerios, bring the empty box to class! May 9th, Winterset Wine Walk: Sip your way around the square during the annual Winterset Wine Walk, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Stop by Heartland Fiber for a taste of something great!
May 16th, John Ravet (Fiber Factor Finalist) – Fitting and Finishing Workshop: 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.- HFC is honored to offer a workshop by John Ravet, knitwear designer for Vogue and other publications. John is a top finisher in the recent online ‘Fiber Factor’ competitions and holds several workshops annually. This workshop will be split into a morning session and an afternoon session and will include lunch. In the morning John will discuss ‘Customizing Knitwear to Fit and Flatter’ and will help you to customize existing patterns. The afternoon session will be dedicated to ‘Applying the Discoveries from the Morning Session, Construction and Finishing’. A complete overview of the workshop is available at HFC as well as’homework’ instructions. This workshop is for the serious knitter who wants to wear what they knit! John is a wealth of information on design and fit and we’re extremely excited to have him present at HFC! Instructor: John Ravet; Fee: $60 now through May 10, $75 May 11 and after. Fee includes lunch. Homework required.
May 22 – 25, John Wayne Birthday Celebration: It’s the time of year where were celebrate the birth of legendary screen actor John Wayne right here in Winterset, Iowa, and this year will also include the grand opening of the new John Wayne Museum. Check their website for a full lineup of events, and stop by HFC during the festivities!
June 12th, 4:00 to 9:00, Ladies Night on the Square in Winterset: Grab your girlfriends and prepare for an evening of shopping, prizes, specials, demonstrations, tastings, and fun, all in walking distance on the beautiful Winterset square. Registration information coming soon!

We are now open every Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00. Winter hours are now in effect through February; closed at 4:00 p.m. every day except Thursdays and classes. Come and shop, or just relax and knit.
We meet on the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. for our Sweater Circle. Anyone can come, and there is no charge.
Sock It To Me Sundays
Join other sock knitters or come in and learn to knit socks every Sunday, beginning January 18th. We’ll explore all methods of sock knitting from DPN’s to Magic Loop. There is no charge.

Local Wine & Stuff
Believe it or not, we were granted a license to sell local wine and wine accessories! We offer a unique line of glasses and cookbooks that make perfect gifts for a girlfriend not easily offended! We also carry those really cool solar light lids that screw on mason jars (they’ll light up your deck or porch on those special evenings), Woolen Treasures (items locally crafted from salvaged wool sweaters), and Trash Talk by Annie cards and gifts.
